Altamira is a bit of an Aladdin's cave of a place; furniture, bric-a-brac, ornaments, clocks, it's all here. Fascinating bits and pieces are crammed into the little 2-storey shop that Urcun took over 2 years ago. It's a good location, slap bang in the middle of Samanpazari's carpet and antique area and you'll be welcome to browse and chat for as long as you like. Urcun speaks good English and he's always happy to talk, sometimes even about the items for sale.

Urcun is the son of Ismet Yilmaz, a recognised Turkish watercolour artist, and the top floor of the shop contains a good selection of her work. He also has a fine collection of traditional Anatolian embroidery, examples of which are getting harder and harder to find. He's an interesting guy and even if you don't buy anything you'll enjoy your visit.
