| Kerim Sefer is an acknowledged expert in all fields related to the history, design, manufacture and sale
of carpets and kilims. The son of a carpet seller, Kerim grew up surrounded by the sights and smells that will greet you in
his shops and his choice of profession was unsurprising. He has always been associated with the Ministry
of Cultures efforts to preserve and promote the work of carpet weavers and was closely involved with the
production of high quality carpets for the Dostim chain of government owned shops.
Over a period of decades he has amassed a collection of national importance and this is reinforced by
the inclusion of 60 of his pieces in the Ministry of Culture's catalogues.
Now you'll find him sitting at his desk in his beautifully appointed showroom in the historic Atpazari
district of Ankara, Turkey's capital city and home to the Museum of Anatolian Civilisation (which you can
see through Kerim's windows). |
