Marmaris and it's environs are blessed with several good beaches, some developed, some still isolated. Içmeler, illustrated here, has some of the cleaner water and sand but is a little short of cheap accommodation. If you're travelling independently then your best bet is probably to either take a day boat trip from Marmaris to "Cleopatra's Isle" or one of the other popular destinations.

If you have a few days then you could do a lot worse than explore the Datca peninsular, camping or staying in the numerous holiday villages, most of which have their own beaches and swimming pools, and enjoying the gorgeous coastal scenery. You can swim from Datca or seek out Aktur or one of the other beaches. You can't really go wrong.
