The nicest way to do this whole loop of sites, including Saklikent if you get a move on, is to hire a Suzuki jeep and drive it yourself. The jeep comes in handy for Pinara and the gravel road between Saklikent and Xanthos and it's loads of fun if the weather's good. Link to Oludeniz or Hisaronu for details of people who can park a jeep outside your pension or hotel at 8:00 am. A two wheel drive vehicle would get you everywhere as long as the roads are dry and the ground clearance is reasonable. Most Turkish hire cars are chosen for this sort of thing. Without independent transport you're looking at a tour. Not necessarily a bad idea as you're much less likely to get lost and you'll get some local knowledge on the Lycian sites. Trips in this area are best organized from Oludeniz, Hisaronu or Fethiye. Surf these pages a little for details of people who can set all this stuff up for you (like Activities Unlimited). If you're on your own here's an idea of the location of stuff. A decent road map or guide book will help but this will do in an emergency.
If you're going to rely on public transport then grab a dolmus heading for Saklikent from Fethiye. This will take you past the Tlos road (an hour there and an hour back). Grab another one through to Saklikent and you should be able to hitch the dirt road to Xanthos. Patara shouldn't be a problem from there. For Pinara and the Letoon you're pretty much on your own.
