Goreme - Cappadocia - Turkey - 12/06/99 - 10:00AM

The happy couple Morning finds a ragged and hung over group of wedding guests queueing for the communal showers and trying to work out how many coffees is just enough. Your correspondent missed the shared bus down from Ankara but, judging from the state of those who made it, that's probably just as well. The last revellers fell into bed at 4:00 am and breakfast started about 9:00.
We're all gathered together at the Paradise pansiyon in Goreme to witness the wedding of Niall Tallon and Dee-Dee Lovering, scheduled for 7:00 pm this evening. We hope to keep you up to date regarding the progress of the ceremony and associated activities throughout the weekend.
In a fairly ambitious move we're all (about 40 of us I think) supposed to go on a hike or something similar, through some valley ot other this morning. Digital camera will come with so watch out for some fresh pictures this afternoon.

A little background
The Paradise Pansiyon is in Goreme, Goreme is in Cappadocia, Cappadocia is in Turkey. If you need to know more about these places you can go to this site a bit later on. The guests are Ankara residents, mostly ex pats, mostly english teachers. The bride and groom to be are Australian and Irish respectively. Here you see a typical wedding guest pleased at the arrival of your correspondent.

The highlight of last night's revelry seems to have been the attempts (futile though they may have been) made by the best man to find a companion for the weekend. He abandoned his efforts once the wedding party started to raffle him off.

More Saturday stuff...
